NOT LONG AFTER 3 KAYAKERS

SET OUT ON THE TAUNTON RIVER,

BLUE SKIES TURNED DARK, THEY

WERE SUDDENLY IN DANGER AND

COTTON A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.

ONE OF THEM WAS A FALL RIVER

WOMAN WHO SAYS CONDITIONS GOT

SO BAD SHE WAS AFRAID THAT SHE

AND HER RELATIVES MIGHT NOT

MAKE IT.

KEN MacLEOD EXPLAINS THAT

HELP ARRIVED MOMENTS AFTER SHE

CALLED 911.

THEY WERE LIKE ANGELS.

Reporter: FIRST RESPONDERS

WHO CAME TO HER RESCUE ON THE

TAUNTON RIVER WHEN A LAZY LATE

AFTERNOON KAYAKING TRIP WENT

SOUR IN A HURRY.

IT WAS BEAUTIFUL WHEN NATALIA

GUTIERREZ SET OUT WITH HER

BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW WHO

CAN'T SWIM, BOTH FROM PUERTO

RICO.

IT CAME UP THAT FAST AND

BAD.

Reporter: RESIDENT VIDEO

SHOWED THE STORM, IT WAS ABOUT

TO FLOOD NEW BEDFORD.

THE WORST ONE I'VE SEEN,

I'VE BEEN HERE FOR 30 YEARS.

Reporter: THE VISIBILITY WAS

MISERABLE, SHE FELT CERTAIN HER

KAYAK WOULD BE CAPSIZED, SHE

PULLED OUT A CELL PHONE TO CALL

911.

Reporter: BY THAT TIME

SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS FROM LAND,

COULDN'T SEE THE OTHER KAYAKERS

AND WAS PRAYING ALOUD.

PRAYING TO GOD TO TAKE US

SAFE TO THE SHORE.

Reporter: AS RESCUERS

ARRIVED, THAT IS WHERE THE STORM

HAD BLOWN HER.

SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHERE HER

BROTHER IS.

Reporter: IT TURNS OUT GOOD

SAMARITANS WERE HELPING HER

BROTHER AND HIS WIFE TO SAFETY

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO THEM, I

CAN'T IMAGINE THE FEAR THAT

THEY HAD. Reporter: NATALIA

PREFERS TO REMEMBER THE ANGELS

WHO HELPED HER.

I HAVE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE

THEM.
