In this Video

i will Style a little juniper with one jin for training

I guess The tree is about 5 years old

this will hopefully become

a nice bonsai in shohin size in the next years

I bought that tree recently

in the winter sale of a garden center

First of all you see that the juniper is suffering

from rotting roots due to bad drainage in the pot

Anyway it is a wrong soil,

maybe only working in the nursery glasshouse

I have to remove this rotting part

So now I start the styling

My aim is to create a multi-layered tree one Jin

We first have to check what the main branches are

We have to cleanup the foliage

in order to see the structure of the tree

Then we can start to decide

which branch is going to become the Jin

After this decision

I remove all unwanted foliage and branches

Take your time

the styling of this little juniper took me about 2 hours !

To keep the plant for a while in this pot

I cover the bottom with lava pieces for draining.

Then I use a root barrier

to prevent fine soil parts block the drain holes

This is quite fine for the moment,

since after completion of styling

I will repot the juniper anyway

i remove the bark of the jin

after the season I will apply some jin fluid

Next step is to wire the trunk and the Jin together

Bending movement, balance and opposite movement ... do it by by your own feelings
