Now lets get into todays video of the Last of Us 2 Release Date Leaked
Last of Us 2 picks up five years after the events of the original game left us with a
now 19 year old Ellie acting as the protagonist.
Joel will also be making his return although mainly as an aging old man who watches over
Ellie.
In the first trailer release it showed Ellie playing a guitar and saying to Joel that shes
going to kill every last one of them.
Its not clear as of now with who this anger is directed at, but judging by the amount
of bodies in that house we can tell someone really made Ellie mad.
Now the original reveal trailer was showcased two years ago and gamers have been patiently
waiting for the release date to be confirmed.
Yknow so we can pre-plan for when were going to not go to school or call in sick to work.
Some of us may have had our prayer answered when a release date for the game was leaked
in late February by a Peruvian gaming retailer.
The retailer is known as Law Gamers and a screen cap was taken of a promotional ad the
site was running that suggested the release date will be October 2019, ahh just in time
for Halloween.
In the bottom left of the poster you can see some small white text and it translates to
- Launching October 2019.
Although the developer Naughty Dog and Sony have not officially announced a release date
so it is still up in the air.
The image though seems legit and looks just like any other normal promotion that a retailer
would mockup to excite buyers into getting a pre-order for the game.
The criticism though against this imagery is that it shows nothing new in regards to
cover art for the game.
Over top of the PS4 case they show its simply a black square with the words - The Last of
Us Part 2.
This leads us to believe the promotional image may be fabricated in some way.
I highly doubt Naughty Dog or Sony would send out promo without first having the cover art
for the game completed.
Sony will also be skipping E3 2019 this year all together which is more evidence that their
resources and time would be put further into something like cover art and promo.
Considering that The Last of Us Part 2 will be one of their biggest releases in years
means skipping the E3 conference could have its downfalls.
Sony said in an official statement that the company was hoping to look for inventive opportunities
to engage the community instead of dumping a ton of time, money and production value
into promoting their upcoming slate at the conference.
With that statement this could also lead many to believe that this is perhaps a PR stunt
to drive up the discussion about the game.
Either way were hoping that they do in fact choose to release this thrilling survival
horror game around Halloween.
It would really capitalize on the trending scary themes of the month.
Although im sure at this point they dont really need to advertise a game that so many are
looking forward to.
As you can tell Im mixed on the issue.
