Marketing within Tata Steel...

...is genuinely different to any other global organisation...

...as it not only provides direction strategically...

...but it also focuses on pricing, new product development...

...and focuses on customer portfolios.

As a consultant I worked at a lot of marketing departments...

...but I can say there is a big difference in working at Tata Steel.

You can see we have a lot of different markets.

We are working at automotive...

...engineering, packaging, construction.

All those different products...

...but also the different markets that we have to enter with those products.

We always have to think about how we go to market.

How do we reach the right person, at the right moment...

...with the right message.

But also think about the strategy of the company.

I came to work at Tata Steel via a family member.

I started in 2008 within customer services department.

From that, had several roles within that function...

...moved up to a team lead.

After several years I wanted to move to a more strategic role...

...and thats the reason why I chose for marketing.

The biggest challenge within my role...

...is the complexity of the supply chain that I work with...

...which is UK construction.

Its ensuring that we work with end clients...

...whilst managing the relationships we currently made...

...with a number of members of the supply chain.

In my role as a Project Manager...

...I have to bring people and knowledge together...

...and have to make sure that every project that we run...

...brings something positive...

...or in the profit of Tata Steel or in a customer experience.

Thats a huge job...

...but also a responsibility that I really like.

The pricing team is really about creating...

...a sustaining pricing excellence within Tata Steel Europe.

You have new product development, you have pricing.

You have specific teams who work for specific sectors...

...to look at OK where are the opportunities to create the best value added in the market?

Personal development is at the heart of everything we do...

...for employees within this organisation...

...and I have been fortunate over the past 12 years...

...to have a number of training opportunities...

...both internally and externally.

If I look at other companies compared to Tata Steel...

...we really are looking for a collaborative way of working together.

And making sure we are making the difference for our customers.

Think about our the Marcomm...

...think about the marketing manager but also the pricing expert.

There are a lot of different roles...

...that have to work together to make the best of it.

I feel very privileged to be able to work within the marketing function of Tata Steel.

As I am able to work with colleagues who are incredibly experienced...

...and competent professionals within their industry.
