I get to present another video for DNA Classics

Behind me the lead role of this video: the BMW E30 M3

This is the first generation M3

build from 1986 - 1991

This car was the answer to Mercedes' 190 Evo

That's the car we filmed last time.

By the way..

The original M3 has a 2,3l engine

200 HP

That's still quite fast: 0 - 100 in 6,9 seconds

And a top speed of 235 km/h

Then the evolution models came out..

This is the Evo 2

with the 2.5l engine

and 220 HP, so a bit faster.

In the last production year they build the M3 Sport Evolution

That is the most hardcore version

with 238 HP

Almost every part of the car is made more sporty

You could say only the bonnet stayed the same

They made the rear, the trunk, a bit shorter

The wheel arches are made more wide than normal

The color is called Macau Blau

And this interior with the checkered seats

are original, standard.

As we go to the front we see a different front lip

Underneath..

You can recognize him by it's white valve cover and air intake

Plus they completely changed the motor management,

different pistons and a lighter flywheel

The M5 at the time..

But also the following M3's

all had six cylinders

this is the only one with a four cylinder

And that was chosen consciously

When they were making the prototype they used the M5 E28 engine

But that straight six was so heavy

that it messed up the handling of the car

That's why BMW decided to

rather make a more powerfull four cylinder than a lighter six cylinder

The million dollar question:

Now I have driven them both

the rivals.. Mercedes- Benz 190 Evo 2 or the BMW E30 M3 Evo 2?

If I have to be honest..

Apart from their values

- cause the Mercedes-Benz goes for 300k nowadays -

But I would rather pick the E30 M3

Maybe I'm a bit biased

because I'm pretty BMW-minded

But the joy of driving, the fun

is higher in the E30 M3 than in the Mercedes-Benz
