The ability to detect, analyze, and predict equipment failures and maintenance intervals,

can save millions of dollars in lost service and warranty claims.

And in some cases, even save lives!

At LHP, we write the software that controls embedded devices, we harness the data they generate,

and deliver it to our customers using industry-leading analytical tools.

This allows our customers to engage the Internet of Things,

which is projected to drive a $7.2 trillion dollar industry by the year 2020.

The process of connecting these devices, getting our hands on the data,

and, most importantly, making good business decisions as a result can be a daunting task.

Thats why we've developed a learning opportunity to help you understand how to do just that.

Lets take a closer look at LHPs IoT Analytics Training.

We begin by introducing the Raspberry Pi, this is one of the new single-board computers

that are emerging as the primary learning platform for connected devices across the Internet of Things.

By installing the SenseHat, we add the ability to collect data from multiple sensors,

including a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity.

It also includes an LED matrix and 5-button joystick.

To generate the data for modeling and analysis, we attach the sensor devices to radio controlled cars

and conduct heat races capturing the driver, car, lane, and other variables of each race.

We combine this in our data model with the telemetry data that includes roll, pitch, and yaw

collected by the sensors as the cars move.

The data is written to storage on a local file on the device, and simultaneously sent

via wi-fi to an event hub and data repository in the cloud.

All of this is configured by the students in the code on the device

as well as the administrative interface on the cloud service.

All of the collected data are streamed to the cloud and integrated in a data model.

We spin off some of the data to train our predictive model as we iterate through the heat races.

As the volume of data grows, we can better predict the outcomes of any potential race

based on the features we have selected in the machine learning model.

The students will build their own data model using only their telemetry information,

connect it to the heat race data, and build visualizations that best represent

the trends and events in their data.

So even though in the class, we're having a bit of fun with toy cars,

the process of configuring and registering an embedded device is the same,

whether it is a jet engine in flight, a punch press on a factory floor, or a medical device collecting vital signs.

Similarly, the data modeling and advanced analytics that we teach utilize the same processes and tools

as integrating multidisciplinary business data within a given company, supply chain or industry.

So by combining LHP's data analytics leadership with our electronic controls, telematics,

engineering services, and LHPU, we can offer the full range of services

to leverage new and existing data sources to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
