Dena: Next to E.T.,
Pac-Man has become THE Atari 2600 game to hate on
by video game reviewers.
But rather than complain about everything that's wrong with it like everyone else does,
I'm just gonna tell you something.
Pac-Man was the first video game I ever owned.
I think I was about 7 or 8 years old when I got an Atari 2600 for Christmas
along with Pac-Man and Space Invaders.
It was just about the first game I ever seriously played.
Occasionally I was privileged enough to be taken to an arcade,
but that was a pretty rare occurrence
and I was the first kid on my block to have a video game system.
So, for the most part, this is what started it all for me.
And you know what?
I loved Pac-Man!
I spent hours and hours playing against my mom and my brother.
My mom kicked both our asses at it,
but I was, at least, better than my brother.
That's not saying much.
I remember the first time my best friends spent the night at my house.
We were up all night playing Pac-Man,
until the bedroom door opened and my mom went
"Turn that thing off and go to sleep!!!"
Good, good times.
So, really, when you think about it,
can something that has so many good memories attached to it
really be that bad?
Yes.
Yes, it can.
