THE NEW CASUALTY OF THE

RAGING WATERS, A CONCRETE WALL

CAME CRASHING DOWN FROM THE

PRESSURE, THIS VIDEO COMING

FROM THE FLOODED COMMUNITY OF

ISSAQUAH, IT IS ONE AREA WHERE

WASHING RIGHT NOW WITH OUR LIFE

TEAM COVERAGE.

WILL START YOU OFF WITH MORE

HEAVY RAIN OVERNIGHT.

THAT HEAVY RAIN IS FALLING

IN THE MOUNTAINS AND THAT IS

THE PROBLEM.

THE RAIN THEN HAS TO RUN OFF

INTO THE RIVERS, RIVER FLOOD

WARNINGS UNCHANGED, LIKELY THE

HIGHEST CREST IN ABOUT FOUR

YEARS TIME, MODERATE FLOODING

ALONG MANY OF THE RIVERS AND

MINOR FLOODING AROUND PARTS OF

THE PUGET SOUND.

AREAS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN HIT AS

HARD NORTH OF EVERETT, MARTIN

COUNTY IS NOT UNDER ANY

WARNINGS MOST OF THE

PRECIPITATION NOT FALLING IN

THE NORTH CASCADES IT IS

FALLING AS RAIN, BELOW ABOUT

4000 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND

SOUTH CASCADES AND THEN IT HAS

TO RUN OFF.

I AM PINPOINTING A DOWNTICK IN

THE RAINFALL RATES THAT'S JUST

HOW HEAVY IT'S COMING DOWN.

THE MORNING DRIVE WILL BE WEDS

IN MANY SPOTS AS WELL AS THE

NOON HOUR, THEN WE HAVE ANOTHER

BATCH OF HEAVY RAIN THAT COMES

IN DURING THE DINNER HOUR

TOMORROW AND THEN THAT'S IT FOR

HEAVY RAIN FOR DAYS, BACK TO

SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS AND WE

START THE CLEANUP BUT THE

LANDSLIDE RISK IS GOING TO LAST

ALL THE WAY INTO NEXT WEEK.

I AM PINPOINTING DRYER DAYS

INCLUDING OVER THE WEEKEND AND

WENT BETTER TO GET OUTSIDE.>

WATER FLOWED INTO THE ISSAQUAH

RIVER OVERFLOWING ROADS AND

EVACUATING HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE,

IT MADE HISTORY, THE HIGHEST

FLOOD LEVELS IN MANY YEARS.

THE PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY

NORMALLY QUIET TRIBUTARIES OF

THE CREEK.

TONIGHT THEY'RE TURNING INTO

POWERFUL RIVERS.

WE'RE LIVE RIGHT NOW WITH A

LOOK AT THE DAMAGE TO MAJOR

ROADS.

Reporter: I'M ABOUT TO SHOW

YOU WHAT A RAGING FLOODWATER

CAN DO THIS IS A MAJOR ARTERY

AND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS

AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF ROCK

AND EARTH PUSHED INTO THE

ROADWAY BY AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF

FLOODWATER.

IN TWO PLACES.

THE WATER IS SUPPOSED TO FLOOD

UNDER THIS ROAD BUT THE COVERTS

ARE FILLED WITH ROCK AND DEBRIS

AND THEY'RE TRYING TO SAVE THIS

RIGHT RIGHT NOW.

AS FAST AS THIS EXCAVATOR WORKS

TO MOVE HUNDREDS OF TONS OF

ROCK AWAY FROM THE ISSAQUAH

ROAD IT IS NO MATCH FOR THE

SHEER POWER OF NONSTOP

FLOODWATERS WHICH KEEPS ROCKS

ROLLING OFF THE GROUND,

CRASHING ALL THAT RUSHING WATER

OVER THE ROADWAY.

THERE'S ABOUT 30 FEET OF

GRASS RIGHT THROUGH HERE IT IS

VERY SCENIC TO LOOK AT.

Reporter: THIS DENTIST IS

AMAZED BY THE RAGING TORRENT

MOVING PAST AND UNDER HIS

BUILDING. IT HAS BEEN

INCREDIBLY UNUSUAL TO SEE THIS

HIGH AND THIS FAST. THIS IS

THE VIEW OF HIS PATIENTS, THE

FAST-MOVING TORRENT IS CLOSE TO

THE BOTTOM OF HIS WINDOWS. WE

HAVE THAT PLAN BE ON WHEN WE

NEED TO COLLEGE AND WHEN WE

NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE.

YOU CAN SEE CERTAIN PARTS OF

UNDER BUILDING YOU CAN SEE IT

CREEPING OUT UNDERNEATH.

SANDBAG CRAZE ARE SCRAMBLING TO

STAY AHEAD OF THE CURRENT.

Reporter: HAVE YOU EVER HAD

TO PUT SANDBAGS AROUND AN ATM

BEFORE?

THIS WILL BE A FIRST.

Reporter: PEOPLE REMEMBER

THE LAST BIG FLOOD FROM 11

YEARS AGO AND THEY SAY THIS ONE

IS FAR BIGGER.

MARK HAS TO WADE THROUGH

EVERYTHING CHRIST JUST TO GET

TO HIS OWN DRIVEWAY AND THEN IT

GETS WORSE. NEVER SEEN IT

COME OVER THE RIDGE.

I LIVE HERE. Reporter: SWIFT

WATER RESCUE CREWS EVACUATED

PEOPLE AND UNTIL THE WATER

RECEIVES THEY ARE FORCED OUT.

AND THE BRACING REALITY OF

CLOSE ROADS AND MORE FLOODS IS

ONLY MATCHED BY THE CHILL OF

THE CURRENT. IT IS JUST COLD.

THE WATER IS REALLY COLD.

Reporter: THE LAST MAJOR

FLOOD WAS IN 2009, THIS

ACCORDING TO EVERYBODY I HAVE

TALKED TO IS MUCH MORE DEEP AND

BROAD IN TERMS OF POWER AND

SCOPE AND ONE SURVEY INDICATES

THAT THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST

WATER TO ROLL THROUGH HERE IN

32 YEARS.

10 MILES NORTHEAST TO

CARNATION, THE SNOQUALMIE RIVER

CONTINUES TO RISE.

WE HAVE LIFE PICTURES HERE

SHOWING THE SCENE ALONG

NORTHEAST 1/24 STREET.

AS YOU CAN SEE THAT JUST LOOKS

LIKE A SWAMP, FLOODWATER RIGHT

IN THE ROAD.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MAIN

ARTERIES INCARNATION SO DRIVERS

HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STEER

CLEAR OF THIS AREA, PLEASE STAY

AWAY FROM THAT.

TO THE SOUTH WE SAW SNOQUALMIE

FALLS JUST RAGING EARLIER

TONIGHT, IT GIVES YOU AN IDEA

OF HOW MUCH RAIN HAS COME DOWN

THIS WEEK.

KING COUNTY IS REMINDING PEOPLE

YOU CAN PICK UP EVERYTHING YOU

NEED FOR FREE, SOME

DISTRIBUTION SITES ARE OPEN 24

HOURS PER DAY INCLUDING COUNTY

ROAD FACILITIES, BLACK DIAMOND

AND SKYKOMISH.

MOST HAVE A LIMIT OF 25

SANDBAGS PER VEHICLE.

YOU CAN FIND MORE VEHICLES ON

THE KIRO NEWS APP.

THE SQUALLY RIVER IS RISING

BY THE HOUR AND RIGHT NOW

HUNDREDS HAVE BEEN EVACUATED

FROM THEIR HOMES AND THE THREAT

IS GROWING.

FLOODING IS BECAUSE OF THE

LEGRAND DAM UPSTREAM, TONIGHT

TACOMA POWER HAS INCREASED THE

WATER FLOW THROUGH THE DAM.

AND WE ARE LIVE NEAR THE RIVER

RIGHT NOW, HUNDREDS OF

NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO

EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.

ROUGHLY 12 TIMES THE AVERAGE

AMOUNT OF WATER IS FLOWING FROM

THE DAM EVERY SECOND BECAUSE OF

ALL THIS RAIN WE RECEIVED AND

YOU CAN SEE IN THIS ROAD THAT

HAS CAUSED FOR THE

NEIGHBORHOOD, IT HAS FLOODED.

IN THE LAST 30 MINUTES WE HAD

TO MOVE OUR SUV BECAUSE OF THE

RISING FLOODWATER MAKING SOME

OF THESE ROADS IMPOSSIBLE TO

DRIVE ON. THEY CAME AROUND

AND PASSED OUT THE RED PLAYERS

AND I TOLD MY DAUGHTER I'M NOT

LEAVING. AS FLOODWATER

CONTINUES TO RISE INTO THE

EVENING, SHE DECIDED TO THROW

IN THE TOWEL.

MY HOUSE IS GOING TO FLOOD.

I DON'T WANT TO DROWN, I HATE

WATER. Reporter: THE CHAIR

CHANGE OF HEART HIM AFTER

DEPUTIES ADVISED RESIDENTS TO

LEAVE THE AREA BECAUSE OF THE

RISING RIVER.

WE SAW PEOPLE PACKED UP AND

LOADING INTO THEIR CARS AND

HOURS LATER PEOPLE WERE GOING

THROUGH THE FLOODWATERS WITH

THEIR PETS AND CARRIERS.

THIS IS VIDEO FROM WEDNESDAY AT

THE WHEELCHAIR FISHING ACCESS

AREA, THEN AT THE RIVER FLOODED

THE PARKING LOT AND ON THURSDAY

NIGHT FLOODWATER STRETCHED

ABOUT A QUARTER-MILE FROM

THERE. NEVER SEEN IT THIS

HIGH BEFORE. THEY MYSELF

FLOODING LIKE THIS IN THE MID-

90s.

HE DECIDED TO STAY PUT FOR NOW.

IT MAKES ME A LITTLE BIT

NERVOUS THAT'S WHY I'M COMING

DOWN HERE EVERY ARTIST KEEPING

AN EYE ON IT.

IT HAS DEFINITELY RAISED IN THE

LAST HOUR SO I'M A LITTLE BIT

WORRIED. Reporter: RIGHT NOW

YOU'RE LOOKING LIVE AT ONE OF

THE NEIGHBORS YARDS, YOU CAN

SEE IT BUBBLING UP, WE ARE TOLD

THAT THIS WILL BE COMING FROM

ALL ANGLES SO THEY ARE GETTING

HIT HARD TONIGHT.

THERE IS AN EVACUATION CENTER

NOW OPEN AND AS FAR AS THE

EVACUATION ADVISORY THAT WAS

PUT IN PLACE TODAY WE ARE TOLD
