HER FATHER, A PROFESSOR AT

HARVARD, WAS ACCUSED OF

ESPIONAGE AND SENT TO AN

INTERNMENT CAMP IN MONTANA.

HE LATER JOINED HIS WIFE AND

CHILDREN IN JAPAN WHERE THE

FAMILY SURVIVED THE AMERICAN

FIRE BOMBING OF TOKYO.

BECAUSE SHE SPOKE ENGLISH AND

JAPANESE, MOTOKO WAS RECRUITED
