I am sure most of us love being in a big city, but that doesn’t mean that other small towns and villages can’t be breathtaking or alluring or amazing
you just have to find the right town or village to visit and you’ll see they have as much to offer as big cities if not more.
It is true that cities offer skyscrapers that are a sight to behold,
expansive malls and the generally exciting atmosphere that comes with being in a big city,
but the best way to experience the culture, traditions and norms of a new region
is to travel to the smaller towns and villages that are usually far away from big cities.
Today, we’ve compiled an exciting list of the 30 most beautiful villages in the world, and I’m thrilled to share this list with you today,
so let’s get started.
Bosa is a small town located on the seaside and on top of a small hill on the northwest coast of Sardinia City.
It is known for its medieval castle which the town is built around.
The castle is called ‘Castello Malaspina’. Other than that, the town is rich in culture and heritage.
The most notable thing is the multicolored houses that are found in the town.
Malana is nestled in the mountains in the northeastern Kullu Valley.
It’s a very old and isolated village that has breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Known to house one of the world’s oldest democracies, it has a unique tribe that is not very well known.
Sidi Bou Said is located about 20 kilometers from the capital city of Tunisia, Tunis.
This thriving town is located on top of a cliff that gives stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Its cobblestone streets are lined with small shops and stalls that characterizes the culture of the town.
Murren is a stunning village found in the mountains in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland.
It has a high altitude of 5413ft (1650m) and gives you a wonderful view of the famous alpine peaks of the surrounding mountains.
Most of the buildings in the village are made out of wood, giving it an inviting rural feel.
Poovar, a town in the state of Kerala, is known for its beautiful beaches which are considered to be among the cleanest beaches in the country.
However, this, of course, means they attract a large number of tourists.
There is a famous temple nearby known as the Aazhimala Siva Temple, which is a sight to behold and has a lot of historical importance to the town.
Puno is known as the cultural center of Peru, and it is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
It practices a lot of homestays as tourists come here to immerse themselves in the Peruvian culture and local practices.
The most notable activity in Puno is the floating island which is known for its undisturbed beauty.
Pariangan is a village belonging to the largest ethnic group found on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia.
It is located in the regency of Tanah Datar in Indonesia.
The beauty of this village comes from the numerous well-preserved houses of the villagers,
which have been used for ages, as well as a mosque that has stood the test of time.
Göreme is located on a cliffside and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Turkey.
The village is well-placed within the slopes of Santorini and gives amazing views to both travelers and residents of the expansive Santorini Caldera.
This is a ruined fortress that overlooks the whole village, and this is the most notable site in the region.
San Miguel de Allende is an important historical site that is even listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
It is located in the central Mexican highlands and is known for its buildings, which were designed with 17th and 18th-century architectural designs.
It is also known for its traditional food and music.
Staithes is located along the North Yorkshire coastline and is known for its fishing culture.
The village is made up of wonderful multicolored houses that are spread along the natural harbor while other bigger, multiple level houses

Gasadalur is a small village that is located on the tiny Mykines Island of the Faroe archipelago.
The village sits on a valley that is surrounded by the peaks of the Mykines islands with stunning views of the sea on one side.

Qasigiannguit has been called the forgotten paradise because very few people know about it.

Palangan is a relatively unknown village found in the valley that the Tangi Var River flows through.
With a meager 1000 inhabitants, this village has a calming and relaxed feel with the houses giving majestic views of the surrounding sloping valleys.
What's more, they have a rich culture that has remained undisturbed centuries later.
This town was built in 1704 along the banks of the Tuojiang River, which is at the foot of the adjacent mountains.
Its name comes from the phoenix-shaped shadow that the mountain casts on the town when the sun is in the right position,
and it is hailed as one of the most picturesque villages in China.
This small village is located within the marvelous vineyards of northeastern France.
It gives a wonderful representation of Alsatian life and boasts of having traditional houses, wineries, cottages,
canals and grand middle age architectural designs on many of the villages’ buildings.
The town is illuminated with fiber-optic lights whenever there are local festivals.
Bibury is a small town located along the banks of River Coln,
and it is adorned by beautiful stone buildings which are strung out along the banks of the river.
One important site in the village is Arlington Row, which is a magnificent row of weavers’ cottages that date back to the 15th century.
Marsaxlokk is a traditional fishing village found in the southern part of Malta.
It is known for its many colorful boats that are parked in its harbor.
These boats are locally known as ‘Luzzu’ and are of historical importance to the village.
Each boat is painted with the mythical eyes of Osiris, which is believed to protect the boats from evil spirits.
This small village has a population of only 300 villagers and can easily be forgotten.
It sits on the mouth of Reinefjord, which is close to the beautiful Lofoten peaks.
The village is famed for being a place where you could watch the marvelous northern lights as you enjoy the laid-back life of the village.
This is considered to be a charming village, and some people even call it enchanted.
Cua Van is a fishing village that is located on the world-famous Ha Long Bay.
It gives gorgeous views of the bay, which is donned by tall rock outcrops.
The village is also home to beautiful and exotic marine animals.
Ait Ben-Haddou is the only earthen village made of clay and bricks on the list, and it is located in southern Morocco.
The village sits in a valley that is close to the majestic Atlas Mountains, where you can enjoy amazing views.
The village is known for its rich history, and it was a trade route stop for merchants selling spices and gold across the Sahara Desert.
Shirakawa-go is located at the foot of the Hakusan Mountain.
It is known for its wonderful rolling rice-fields and river which provides water to the nearby thatched farmhouses.
Most of the houses in the village are believed to be more than 250 years old.
There are several traditional Japanese cultures and traditions that you can learn from the locals.
Simiane La Rotonde is located in the famous south of France and is surrounded by numerous vineyards, lavender fields and olive groves that grow nearby.
The village still has cobblestone streets, and most of its houses are made of stone using centuries-old architecture
and designs that are still wonderfully preserved.
Popeye Village was created during the filming of the 1980 musical called Popeye, although it was abandoned after the movie finished filming.
The wonderfully curated wooden buildings and other quaint structures give the village an 80’s look.
Giethoorn is a gorgeous village found in one of the greenest places in the Netherlands.
The village is surrounded by an expansive National Park that is full of all kinds of plants, trees, and shrubs
which give the village a relaxing and calming feel.
They also still use canals to move around the village instead of cars.
Cochem is a small German town that is known for its attractive vineyards,
half-timbered houses and a wonderful river valley that offers tourists several fascinating sights.
In addition to that, there is a castle on top of a hill within the village that overlooks the river, and this is the main iconic structure in the town.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is located in the plush and historic Swat Valley of Pakistan.
The surrounding valley offers stunning views of green rolling landscapes, snowy mountain peaks
and a magnificent river that terminates in the majestic Shingrai Falls.
It’s the best place to get a perfect nature experience.
Biei is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Japan and the entire world
because of the extensive farmlands that contain different varieties of flowers and vegetation
offering breathtaking views when the flowers are in full bloom.
