Genocide against the Tutsis: the truth, right now! Delegation 2016
We are here, today, once again
to commemorate the genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994.
This year, we have been joined by members of parliaments
who have come to represent the 44 French Members of Parliament
and 43 Members of the European Parliament
who joined the initiative "Genocide against the Tutsis: the truth right now!"
This means the movement that we have launched, with young people, for the truth
is unstoppable.
And, to those who, in France,
are trying to force us to remain silent,
who are pressuring us,
who wish that we would stop,
I say, very clearly, that they are wrong.
I came at the invitation of EGAM
Firstly, to learn, to instruct myself
because this tragedy, this genocide isn't taught.
We aren't told the same story in our country.
I wish that the perpetrators who
are responsible and who are living in our country
could be tried.
And that responsibilities are identified.
The arrival of the EGAM delegation
is very significant for us
because it is a partner organisation.
We have been working together for a long time.
And the fact that they are coming from a country
that participated, in one way or another, in the genocide,
helped the perpetrators,
protected the presumed perpetrators.
Therefore, it is very significant for us.
The memory of genocides,
in order to prevent future genocides,
is a politically, socially and culturally crucial work.
That's why I wanted to become part of this process.
To come to Rwanda to also get a direct impression.
