- Car people only want one thing and it is disgusting

talking about horsepower and I am no different.

I even have a fun way of saying it.

You can buy it on a shirt @donutmedia.com.

So the other day I was thinking what's the most

powerful car sold this year?

Then I was thinking, what is the most powerful car

from every year?

From the last 120 years, that's just how my brain works.

I'm built different.

And if you clicked on this video,

then you are different too.

Congratulations. Welcome to the club.

So today we are gonna be looking at production cars

with the most horsepower of every year, since 1900.

Why?

I don't know, I'm James and this is The D-List.

Listen, I think that you guys know at least one

of the cars that's gonna be on this list.

It's one of the coolest cars we've ever featured

on this channel.

One of the coolest cars ever made.

So when Omaze reached out to sponsor this video,

we were like 100% Dodge Demon.

- Who wants to come to one of the 140 pounds a day?

- Listen, man, we told you

that you're not allowed to hang out here anymore.

And I said, Dodge Demon, not Doug Demon.

- Dodge. - Yeah.

- Let's go.

840 horsepower of pure detroit muscle.

- Dude, it's sick.

- Well you know it's not always about the muscles, James.

It's about what's inside you.

You wanna know what's inside me?

Mouthwash, tadpols. - Gross.

Well, inside this demon

you're gonna find a supercharged 6.2 liter Hemi

demon V8, making it literally the perfect burnout machine.

(car engine roaring)

- Boo, Boo, boo!

Why spend time with that when you can spend time with me?

I love to party, I love fun and I don't pay taxes.

- What a coincidence, because whoever wins this car

won't have to pay any taxes either.

All fees, including taxes and shipping are included.

Plus you're gonna get $20,000 cash

- Yeah. If you hang out with me,

I got this pigeon.

- You need to throw that away Doug.

And you guys head on over to omaze.com/donutmedia to enter

for your chance to win today and the best part.

Every donation you make supports

the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

It's an amazing place.

So hurry up and enter today.

Now back to the show.

So just to clarify this list

it only includes cars that have actually been made

and sold by manufacturers multiple times.

So we're not including race cars or land speed

record cars or weird rocket sleds.

And I know that there were cars before 1900

but this just seemed like a nice round place to start.

So with that out of the way, let's get into it.

1900, the Daimler Phoenix, 23 horsepower.

This was actually the first car to have

a front engine setup.

So it's a really good milestone

for every fast car henceforth.

1901 Mercedes 35, that boy had 35 horsepower

1902 Mercedes Simplex with 44 horsepower.

Now in 1902, this was a ton of horsepowers

and Mercedes won a bunch of races with this car

1903 through 1906, Mercedes Simplex, 60 60 horsepower.

This upgraded version of the simplex introduced the world

to a new segment of cars, the saloon, and it was as big

as a fricking saloon thing was fricking huge.

1907, Hispano-Suiza 75.

It had you guessed it.

75 horsepower.

This big honker was a Spanish car that had

a big honker engine in it.

An 11 liter six cylinder Hawker to be specific.

1908, Napier Type K5 80 horsepowers.

1909 Napier K5, again.

1910 Isotta Fraschini Tipo KM, 120 horsepower.

The isotta Fraschini Tipo KM was the first car

to break a hundred horsepower.

And it did it by a pretty good amount.

This is how much horsepower job's Miata makes right now

in 2020 pre turbo, he's currently putting a turbo on it.

Check out money pit to learn more about that.

Isotta held onto the record

in 1911 and in 1912, Ooh, sorry, Issota.

It's the Mercedes-Benz 82 slash 200 snutso touring

and had 200 horsepower.

And this was the first car to break.

The 200 horsepower barrier.

Mercedes came along

and said, "A hundred horsepower's cool, but you know

what's cooler a billion horsepower."

But you know what we can actually make, too 200 horsepower.

How they do it with a 21 liter engine.

Now that is obviously way too many liters

for any mere mortal to handle.

So they only made this car for one year.

So the next few cars go back down into the one hundreds,

1913 Pierce-Arrow Model, 66-A, 140 horsepower.

1914 American Lafrance Roadster, 105 horsepower.

You may know American Lefrance

for the old timey fire engines they made

or maybe you don't pay attention to that kind of stuff

because you got better ways to spend your time.

You think you're better than me?

Either way, this thing was able to make this much power

because of a 14.7 liter engine, 105 screaming horsepowers

from only 15 liters?

Impressive.

1915 FRP Series B 170 horsepower.

1916 FRP Series B again.

1917 I guess they stopped making the FRP that year

because in 1917, the title goes back

to Pierce-Arrow with the model 66 A4.

Damn Pierce-Arrow, back at it again

with the fresh white vans and 140 horsepower.

I'm 35 years old, (laughing)

1918 Voisin C1, 150 horsepower

1919 Voisin C1, the most horsepower battle again.

Mercedes-Benz Chitty Chitty bang bang, 230 horsepower.

You know that movie "Chitty, Chitty, bang, bang"?

No.

You don't remember that movie from a hundred years ago?

Well, that was a movie with people in it.

And that movie was named after this car

and they actually only made one of these.

So I am technically breaking the rules

but I think that it's a funny name.

And to me, funny Trump's rules any day of the week.

It's why almost didn't graduate high school.

1921, Hispano Suiza H6B.

Hi, I'm the Hispano Suiza at eight six B.

I have 135 horsepower,

1922 Oh, Hey, it's me again?

The Hispano Suiza H6B I still have 135 horsepower.

1923 Oh, hi me again.

Hispano Suiza H6B.

I know you guys are probably getting like so sick

of me by now.

I'm just gonna go.

I'm gonna leave.

1924, Oh my God.

I'm so annoying.

Sorry, it's me, The Hispano suiza H6B again,

I went to leave but I realized I just forgot my keys.

I'm for real, this time I am gone.

1925, Mercedes Benz 630K 170 horsepower,

1926 Bugatti Type 38A 140 horsepower.

This car was like the Bugatti of the 1920s.

I always thought it would be a harder flex

to be like, "I woke up in an old bugatti."

'Cause they sell for like 30 million dollars.

1927, Bentley Speed Six, 180 horsepower.

After only a few years of building cars.

Bentley came out with the six and a half liter

inline six powered speed, six that's a lot of sixes.

The engine was advanced for the time

with two high performance carves

and overhead cam and four valves per cylinder.

The entire iron block engine was cast in one piece

which means it didn't need a head gasket.

So if you see one of these on Craigslist that says

blown head gasket, you know that that guy is dumped.

1928 Duesenberg Model J 265 horsepower.

You ever heard someone describe something a big or obtrusive

with that's a doozie?

Well, that actually comes from Duesenberg and it's

for good reason.

These cars are massive and they're also very eccentric

and they held onto the most power for almost a decade

1929 doozie model J, 1930 doozie model J

1931 doozie model J

1932 doozie model J

1933 doozie model J

1934 doozie model J

1935 doozie model SSJ

400 Horsepower.

This is an upgraded model J with a shorter wheel

base and it held the title for the next two years.

1936 doozie model SSJ,

1937 doozie model SSJ.

1938 the Phantom coresair, 190 sweet horsepowers.

1939 the Delahaye type 165,

245 horsepowers,

1940 Duesenberg model SJ again

with 320 horsepowers.

1941, Mercedes Benz, 77K 230 horsepowers.

Another supercharged inline eight cylinder engine.

This one will hold the record

for the next four years until they stopped making it

in 1945 because Germany lost world war II.

We brought the most horsepower trophy back home

to America in 1946 and 1947

with the Packard clipper eight, with 165 horsepower.

Then in 1949, it goes

to the Norman Timbs special with 180 horsepower.

This thing is sick.

1949 and 1950, the Talbot Lago T26 grand sport

194 horsepowers

1951, Cunningham C2, 250 horsepowers.

1952 the Allard JR.

Named after his father Allard SR, 300 horsepowers.

1953, the first of very few ferraris on this list

surprisingly or not, the Ferrari 342 America special.

Oh my God Ferrari, you named the most powerful car

in the world after America, but you're Italian.

You're so obsessed with us.

300 horsepower wow.

1954 Siata 200 CS.

The CS stands for 300 horsepower,.

1955, Ferrari 410 super America.

Oh my God Ferrari stop.

What are we doing?

I mean, it's 380 horsepower.

(laughing)

1956 Chrysler 300 B special

with 355 Detroit horsepowers.

1957 Maserati 450S Costin-Zacato 400 horsepower.

I didn't even know Eric Costin made cars,

1958 the Mercury Monterey 400 horsepower.

Hey, what's a Pirate's favorite car?

A 1959 Kellison J-4R 397 horsepower.

1960, Chrysler 300F, 400 horsepower.

All right, guys, we're halfway done.

1965 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt 425 horsepowers.

The Fairlane Thunderbolt is kind of like

today's Dodge Demon.

It was only made in 1964 and it was very closely based

on an experimental drag racing car.

Ford fans liked the drag car so much that Ford actually

made 100 road going variants of it.

One of these things is currently for sale for over $330,000.

1965, Shelby Cobra, 427 competition, 485 horsepowers.

Shelby Cobras are one of the coolest cars ever made.

And this one is potentially the coolest only 23 were made

and they were specifically built to be a road legal car

that could beat Ferrari on the track in Europe.

I think that is hilarious and awesome.

It was designed by Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles themselves

that even though it was only made for about a year

the 427 competition held the horsepower world record

until 1984.

And by the way, this is the last time you're gonna

see an American car on this list for quite some time because

of a little thing called the gas crisis.

So soak it in,

enjoy it.

Be grateful for it.

Take a little breath and visit donutmedia.com

to buy yourself an oil crisis T-shirt.

(James bleching and laughing)

1966 and 1967, Lamborghini Miura P400 345 horsepower.

In 1968, Lamborghini bumped up the Miura to 265 horsepower

with the P400S and then they did it again in 1971

with the Miura SV holding the title

with 380 horsepowers until 1974.

When her little brother, the Countach LP400 was born,

kicked her off the throne with 370 horsepowers.

That must be a male.

And what an heir it was.

Different versions of the Countach

dominated the horsepower Wars

for the next decade.

From 1978 to 1981, it was the Lamborghini Countach LP400S

with 350 horsepowers.

82 to 83, Lamborghini Countach LP5,000S

with 375 horseepowers.

1984 and 1985, the Lamborghini machine Countach

LP5000 digigy QV with a blistering 455 horsepowers.

And then in 1986, Ford made 200 RS 200 evolutions.

The RS 200 Evo was a high performance, no holds barred

light your ass on fire, and don't even call you back version

of the road, legal homologation car.

This little rock tumbler pushed 500, again

580 horsepowers to all four wheels.

And is one of the cutest cars on this list.

I mean, look at that little face squeezed and little cheeks.

From 1987 and 1989 and the most powerful car in the world

was the wickedly talented, Ferrari F40 with 477 sassy,

Italian, covalo, energy,

not only was the most powerful car in the world

but it was also the fastest car in the world.

The F40 could go 201 miles per hour.

It was built to be as close

to a race car as Ferrari could get

while still being able to drive on the road.

And in the words of George Walker Bush,

"Mission accomplished"

Lauren Michaels hit me up, bro.

I know you fired me one time, but I've changed.

I've grown.

Apparently Lamborghini

didn't like Ferrari being on top.

So in 1990, they released the Diablo

with 510 equally Italian Hersey Persians.

1991, the title stayed in Italy

but this time it slept in Bugatti's room.

The EB 110 had 553 horsepower.

They made it to celebrate a Torrey Bugatti's 110th birthday

Happy birthday Bugatti.

In 1991, McLaren released the F1, which had 618 horsepower.

It was the most powerful car in the world

for three years until McLaren gave it more power baby,

in 1995 with the F1 LM

which had a cool 671 horsepowers.

1996, went back to Lamborghini

with the Diablo SV and 510 horsepowers.

1997 the only Porsche on the list

the Porsche 911 GT1 StraBenversion.

This has got 544 horsepower.

And I do believe

that Magnus Walker has about 11 of them.

In 1998, Toyota was like, "Oh, dang Porsche,

you guys got a GT one.

So do we, how many horsepowers does yours have?

Oh, this is embarrassing.

Ours has 600."

The Toyota GT one

spelt out one is one of the most extreme cars ever made.

And it was a homologation car

for the GT one race category at Lamar.

One of the requirements for a homologated car

at Lamar is to have enough storage

to fit a standard suitcase.

Now, Toyota didn't wanna do that.

So they said if the fuel tank is empty

then it's big enough to fit a suitcase.

And it worked.

The only other requirement was

that they had to make a production version.

So they did.

They made two.

That is technically multiple.

So I did not break the rules.

It still counts.

They only made this car for one year.

So this next year, the record goes down again.

The year 2000

Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 550 horsepowers.

2001 Lamborghini Murcielago 577 horsepower.

Lamborghini has a habit

of having the most horsepower in a car

and then introducing a new car with even more horsepower.

2001 to 2003 goes to the Koenigsegg CC8S.

Koenigsegg came out of the gate,

super strong with a 655 horsepowers

twin turbo V8 in a carbon fiber midogen set up.

This thing is a fricking monster

and you can go up to 240 miles per hour

but I guess that wasn't enough.

So in 2004, they came out with the Koenigsegg CCR

with 806 horsepower.

CCR I assume is in Amash to Creedence Clearwater revival

Christian Von favorite band.

The 2005 Bugatti Veyron is one

of the most iconic cars on this list.

It was the first car to break the 250 mile per hour margin.

And it did so in absolute luxury

it had 987 horsepower when it was launched,

it had 10 radiators and at top speed,

could drive the height

of the statue of Liberty every second,

which is a common test.

So many people die every year doing this test.

Can we please stop it?

It costs so much taxpayer money

so many drivers and onlookers die.

Why do we do it?

Because it's there, it's inside of us.

We have to drive up the statue of Liberty

and see how many times you can do it in a second.

We have to, we're human, it's in our nature.

Bugatti held the record through 2006 and in 2007

the SCC Ultimo came along

and finally broke through the 1000 horsepower record.

102 years after the 100 horsepower barrier was broken

which is pretty good because before that

they didn't even fricking have cars.

2007, 2008 SSC Ultimo Aero TT first-generation

1,180 horsepower.

2009 to 2012 SSC Ultimo Aero TT

Now that's the second Gen and it had 1,287 horsepower.

And in 2013 in honor of the year

SSC added 13 horsepower made the SSC Ultimo Aero, XT

and it had 1300 horsepower, Whoa, 13, 13, 13, 39.

2014 Koenigsegg one:1, 1,341 horsepower.

2015 to 2017 Koenigsegg Regera 1500 horsepower.

Then they stopped making it.

In 2018, we had the Dodge Demon,

one of the coolest cars ever made

that I've ever experienced.

I've driven a lot of stuff.

The Dodge Demon, 840 horsepower.

You might be saying, James

I saw a video of the Devil 16, that makes 5,000 horsepower.

Well, guess what?

This is my list.

And the Devil 16 is probably vaporware.

And it's definitely not a production car yet.

And Dodge actually made a bunch

of these that you could buy in a dealership

and you didn't have to like know a Prince or anything.

So Dodge Demon also you could win one

by going to omaze.com/donutmedia

or click the link in the description below.

2019, Bugatti Centodieci, 1600 horsepower

which brings us to 2020,

the year that never ends.

This year like most powerful car in the world

is the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut at 1,603 horsepowers.

It's named after Christian Von Koenigsegg's dad

Jesko and his favorite moderately priced vodka, Absolut.

This car makes stupid power

and can theoretically hit 270 miles per hour

which is faster than anyone really needs to go.

You know, you don't need to go that fast.

In the past 15 years alone

top horsepower figures have doubled

in 2021 there's cars coming out that are claiming thousands

of horsepower and things are only gonna keep getting more

and more insane.

I, for one can't wait.

I like insane.

I'm married to the joker,

James, dinner's ready.

You wouldn't understand

(bright music)
