To the Class of 2020, we want you to know how truly sorry we are that COVID-19 has
dramatically changed your senior year. We still have big plans to celebrate you
and your accomplishments at graduation. Each school's graduation will occur at
Virginia Tech in the cage parking lot. As we developed graduation plans, our goal
was to have a live graduation that follows social distancing guidelines. A
parking lot style graduation program will allow us to be together graduating
as a senior class while being socially distanced. Each school's graduation will
occur on Saturday, May 30th, The graduation ceremony for the Blacksburg
Bruins will begin at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will graduate at noon.
The Auburn High School Eagles graduation ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. And the
graduation ceremony for the Christiansburg Blue Demons will begin at
5:30 p.m. This location for graduation will allow each student to have multiple
cars for family members with a stage high enough that everyone can see the
ceremony. We will ask all families to park near each other so they can pull up
to the stage together while the graduate gets out to walk across the stage. Our
families will receive more information from their school as the specific
details are finalized. This is an opportunity for every senior who has
completed all of their requirements for graduating high school to walk across
the stage and be recognized. This plan could not have happened without
community support and the continued support of our parents and students. You
want to celebrate the accomplishments of this senior class. We look forward to
seeing you during graduation weekend to honor you - the Class of 2020.
