The studio, or as I like to call it "my spaceship" is where I spent most of my quarantine
and it's where I wrote, composed arranged, produced and even recorded
the entire album including 'The River'.
And then we go down to the river to the river down and back again and down and down we go

When I first came up with 'The River', I had this sense of, like a tribal energy
coming from the song and you can hear that very clearly in the chorus itself which is
Down to the river to the river down and back again, and down and down we go
You can hear all the backing vocals that really give this tribal feel.

So I decided to base the song on something that's you know, tough, and that punches through and the
best instrument I found for that is the bass, it's the bass line. And so the song is really built on
and then we layer that with some synth
some drums obviously
and my favorite part of the song, the guitars
which if you isolate it you can really see what the guitar is doing
it's just, you know, giving this energy that sort of brings the whole track together
and you can hear it down once the guitar starts to, sort of, add layers to itself
it just makes the song so much better
And then when you put everything together it sounds like
And that's 'The River'

From the first listen, I felt that Son Savage was trying to send the feeling of being stuck in a loop
So I decided to base the music video on the 16 basic desires which are
Hey guys this is Son Savage and today we're on
the set of the music video for 'The River'. This is day one out of two, it's gonna be a long weekend
there's a lot of work that was put into this and there's still a bit of work to be done
but hopefully, you know, it'll all pay off and uh I trust that we have something amazing
being put together and I'm so excited to share it with everyone

The whole set, and cast, and production, uh, we all agreed, at the end of the two days shooting that
this has been an absolute thrill for all of us so I hope you enjoy it as much as we did producing it
