Hi there, this is Coving Tips from Plaster Ceiling Roses.
I'm just going to tell you how to mix up some Plaster of Paris for
filling the actual coving.
Ok so I'm going to start off with an Indian Bowl
a bucket of water
and we want to gather about a quarter of a bowl
to a third of a bowl of water.
Then we're going to add a good handful
of casting plaster.
Just to leave a mound, a nice mound
and then we're going to knock it up with a Small Tool.
So this casting plaster
will be ready to work with in about five minutes.
So we're mixing it to a single cream consistency.
And as soon as you can pick it up with a Small Tool
then you should start using it, and you've got I'd say
a 5 to 7 minutes setting time and then the mix is done with.
Don't be scared about how thin
it is when its knocked up because in 5 mins time it'll start to thicken.
Get everything mixed off the bottom of the bowl...
let it rest.
Ok so five minutes have gone
and we're just about able to pick up the Plaster of Paris
with our Small Tool.
At this point you want to start working on the cornice.
As soon as you can pick it up with a Small Tool we're ready to go
