Hey everyone! It's time for your favorite activity...Describing Nouns.

This is a listening and speaking activity. Today we're going to describe

nouns that are people. The people we will describe are around the vocabulary level of a beginner

or high-beginner. However, this activity is relevant to learners of all levels

And if you're an advanced learner, you should get all of these right.

In this activity, Ioana is going to describe six different nouns to you.

Each noun is a person, and you will have 10 seconds to guess the correct answer.

And remember to say your answers out loud.

But before we begin, let's see an example. Ioana is going to describe the word,

and I'm going to guess the answer.

Here's the word.

Are you ready?

I think so.

Okay. So this person is a member of your family. You have the same parents as they do.

It's a girl. I have one. She's not my brother, she's my....

It's your sister.

Okay. So you get the idea. Let's begin.

Great!

Ioana will pick a noun and describe it to you. You will try to guess that noun and remember to

After we finish all six words, I'll go over the answers with you. Ready? Let's get the clock up there!

And begin.

Okay. So this is a girl. This is a girl that you like. That you like to go on dates with or you already date her.

And you have a relationship with her. Maybe give her presents.

So this is a very little person, the youngest member of your family.

They cry all the time. They need all of your attention.

They're always hungry. A very, very, small child. Can you guess?

This is somebody whose job is in music, someone famous.

Somebody who maybe has a band. An example would be Beyonce or Michael Jackson.

If you do something bad, this person is going to take you away...to jail.

They catch criminals. Their job is to help and protect people.

They drive a car that goes whooo, whooo, whooo, whooo...

This is somebody who is always poor, never has money, is always reading books.

This is a person who goes to school, who sits in class, takes notes, trying to study for exams.

And it is you.

When you go to a restaurant, this person...they bring you your drinks.

They bring you your food. They take your order. If you're not nice to them, they can do stuff to your food.

Hopefully, you were able to give an answer for all of those.

If you would like to do the activity again before I show you the answers,

You can pause the video and go back to the start of the activity.

So let's look at the answers. But before I show them to you, I'm going to replay

Some of the key words that Ioana used to describe the nouns.

A girl that you like, that you like to go on dates with or you already date her.

The answer we were looking for is girlfriend.

They cry all the time. They need all of your attention. They're always hungry.

Somebody who cries a lot is a baby.

This is somebody whose job is in music, someone famous.

An example would be Beyonce or Michael Jackson.

The answer is singer.

If you do something bad, this person is going to take you away...to jail.

Policeman or policewoman were the answers that we're looking for.

This is a person who goes to school, who sits in class, takes notes.

The answer is student.

They bring you your drinks. They bring your food. They take your order.

The answer is waiter or waitress.

Hopefully, you were able to give an answer for all of those.

Now, it's your turn. I'll show you two nouns and you need to describe them to Ioana.

She can't see these words. I promise.

So you'll definitely need to speak.

Try to use complete sentences and not just one word.

Be creative. And if Ioana looks confused,

then try to think of another way to explain the word.

Here's your first word.

Is it a father?

Oh, oh that's a doctor.

Okay. Good job! We hope you enjoyed this activity. Let us know what you think.
