Good news AND bad news for Downton Abbey fans! The popular ITV period drama has been renewed
for a 4th season but the catch is, a main character will be missing from the lineup!
According to the Daily Mail, Dan Stevens, who plays leading man Matthew Crawley, is
departing the show to pursue a career stateside, where he is currently starring alongside Jessica
Chastain on Broadway in The Heiress. He will reportedly appear in this season's two-hour
Christmas special and the first episode of season 4 before officially leaving Downton
for good. His departure also leaves on-screen wife Michelle Dockery's future up in the air
