Wow, wow, wow...
This is my favourite episode!
We made a video last time of-
I made a video last time of me
learning music in 1 minute, 10 minutes, and 1 hour.
This is a reverse now.
Instead doing the same thing,
we thought we would up it.
So we decide to get Eddy to...
compose in 1 minute,
in 10 minutes, and in 1 hour.
This is revenge, isn't it?
Obviously, just to clarify, we're no composers.
But it would be really interesting to see what we cook up.
Oh, "we" cook up.
- Yeah, we cook up. - "We..."
I'm in the sidelines supporting, cheering.
I'll just disappear.
I have tried composing like 3 things in my life
that take like 1 week.
I have no idea how it's gonna work.
But Alma can compose
something I N T E R E S T I N G in 1 minute, so-
Let's do it!
1, 10, 60!!
I don't think I can write anything down in 1 minute,
so I'm just going to
play on my violin and see what comes up.
3, 2, 1, go!
I'm just gonna play whatever.
Come listen to what I have.
Dude, I already forgot what I played. *door open*
Brett: Let the judging begin!
Tun, tun, tun, tun, tun!
That was different from what I played before.
I forgot what I played, it sounded better.
It sounded like a national anthem.
Brett: I give you...
I N T E R E S T I N G out of 10.
Let's see if I can develop that.
10 minutes. 3, 2, 1, go!
Alright, I think I need to start writing down
the ideas I'm coming up with on Sibelius!
How do you make a new score?
Oh my god! It took up like 1 minute.
'Cause that's the easiest key to write in for violin.
Alright, let's go!
Dude, this is impossible.
Ha ha ha ha!
- It's like a... - More drony...
It's like the Mozart...
Mozart had the same idea.
He had to compose in 1 hour.
Pretty sure Mozart's version is far superior.
I rate it I N T E R E S T I N G out of 10!
I guess 50 minutes left to hit the 1 hour. *door closed*
I know it's technically meant to be 49,
but I'll give myself 1 extra minute.
I'm gonna try and compose more
on a sheet of paper now,
so I can see kind of structurally where things are going.
So it's less improvised.
Mm, that's better.
So many decisions!
Don't know which one to do.
I like that.
Go for a...
more lyrical turn.
You know I'm just trying to be smart here.
Here, you know this climax.
That's like a new theme that comes in, right?
But if you listen to the bottom part...
It is a bit like the...
It's just a little callback to the opening motif.
That's called plagiarism, Eddy.
Don't steal another composer's work.
Switch it up!
Do a fourth instead of a predictable...
Done. That's it!
Last 1 minute and a half to finish writing this out,
so I don't forget.
I didn't get to finish writing it down though,
so some of it is like shorthand.
So I hope I remember.
I'm not a composer.
Enough excuses. Let's do this.
We're done, guys.
Ha ha ha, wait, wait!
What would you guys rate it?
Eh! Please don't rate it.
You only have to rate it 1 out of 1.
Ha ha, they don't have options.
I love how you went from like....
the theme and coming back to it.
- Yeah. - And then I think you did some Bach stuff there,
- and Ysaÿe stuff there. - Yeah, I tried.
It's actually really limited when you only have a violin.
It's either you just play a melody when it feels empty,
or you have to like fill in the harmonies, but there's only-
You sacrifice some melodies
just to get some harmony in there.
And there's only like
this many ways you can do on a violin.
It's really tricky.
I'd just play something, and be like
tried 50 different versions.
So I gotta pick something I like.
Now I just need to play it 15 times faster on TV.
Yeah, the fastest...
Alright, guys. Thank you so much for watching.
Please like and subscribe,
and we'll see you guys next time.
