BUT FOR OUR REGION..

WE'LL MOST LIKELY STILL BE SEEING SNOW UNTIL APRIL..

Scattered snow showers will be possible through the overnight hours, with minimal

accumulations expected.

Dry weather and mild temperatures begin the week with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s on Monday and Tuesday.

Chances for snow increase Tuesday night, potentially mixing with rain or sleet at times.

This will be the start of a more active period of weather for the rest of the week. At this time, Thursday and Friday look to

be the most active days with the potential for accumulating snowfall and impacts to travel.

&& .NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...

As of 548 PM EST Sunday...Quick update was made to increase precipitation chances in the Champlain Valley, in particular

western Chittenden and Addison counties, to account for light snow showers rapidly moving eastward out of the Adirondacks

across Lake Champlain in a ragged band early this evening. Radar and observations have indicated a duration of less than a half

hour with briefly reduced visibilities in the heaviest showers.

Otherwise, no other changes needed at this time.

Previous discussion...

Continued to back off on chances for precipitation and consequently QPF and snow amounts as 12z guidance trends similar to

00z & 06z suites. Low pressure currently located over the Great Lakes will largely remain to the south of the North

Country. As upper level shortwave pivots NE over the area light snow showers will be possible through the remainder of the night, but

accumulations, if any, will be minimal. Most areas will likely receive only a dusting, with generally 1-2" across the

high terrain. Heading towards Monday morning, winds will steadily increase out of the south/southwest,

especially across northern New York, between 10-15 mph. This will help keep temperatures from falling overnight with lows

generally in the low to mid 20s, with a few upper teens across the far northern reaches of the Northeast Kingdom.

Clouds will linger across the North Country Monday despite temperatures aloft warming 3C from today. With 925mb temps around -

1C thinking we should warm into the upper 30s with a few locations across our southern areas touching 40. Upstream satellite imagery

and soundings show clouds around tomorrow so have leaned towards middle of the road guidance, rather than the warmer solutions (this

matches well with MOS guidance). Weather trends quieter Monday into Tuesday with no precipitation expected.

Overnight lows should remain in the mid 20s with clouds and winds lingering through the night, despite weak surface high

pressure moving in.
