OMG! It was worth the effort
Good morning, I hope you are very well.
I am super excited!
We have slept in the unpronounceable city that is Ollantaytambo.
We are here because we will go to Machu Picchu again. It will be my third time doing it. And you amor, how many times?
Four and that will be my fifth time.
And how many times have you seen the Machu Picchu without clouds?
What happens is that I have always come during the holiday season for national tourists that would be like January and February.
So, that's why I had to go so many times because the first three times I could never see the mountain.
They always tell you to go in the morning to see the sunrise. Nah ... It's a lie.
In the rainy season, you will not see anything at all. Pure clouds. In fact, we can put a picture of us when we went.
We had to point out where Machu Picchu was because we couldn't see anything.
The fourth time I went during the rainy season, I invited my mother but we entered the afternoon.
The advice I give you: there are more chances that you can see Machu Picchu in the afternoon.
It is even possible that it does not rain and there are no clouds.
Obviously, the sky will not be as blue as in the dry season.
But anyway, you will be able to appreciate the mountain well and you won't be wearing bags.
Garbage bags! Rain poncho ...
Now, we are going to walk a part and in the afternoon we will be entering Machu Picchu.
I hope it won't be raining!
We have to hurry because it is 6:30 am and the train leaves at 7am.
Trains always leave early.
The first stage of our route is to take the train from Ollantaytambo towards km 104.
We take our train at 7h45am for about an hour and then we will start the walk.
What you have to know is that to get to Machu Picchu there are many ways.
First, you can do a five-day trek through the mountains sleeping in tents.
Also, you can do a four-day trek along the Inca trail of more than 40km.
There is also the Inca jungle trek that is an adventure trek.
But, in our case, we have few days so what we are doing is a day trek through the mountains.
Our friends from Porcell Tours invited us to do this trek.
We are here at km 104 and we will meet our guide.
We are in a special place: the 104th road we call it the sacred path.
We will cross this wonderful river in the next few minutes and we will take a walk through Machu Picchu that is above.
We will enter through the famous Inti Punku: the door of the sun.
We will arrive where walkers of the four days trek arrive as well.
We will do it in six hours. There are many people who do not have time to do the four days.
We will enter by the same path.
So, six hours in the Inca trail.
Six hours: four hours to Wiñay Wayna and two more hours to Machu Picchu.
This tour, can everyone do it?
Yes, at Porcell Tours we lead small, personalized and private groups.
Twenty meters and we already found some ruins.
Can you imagine the richness of this path?
Let's do a little ritual before we start.
We have our coca leaves.
We are at our first stop.
We have climbed quite a bit but in reality it is not very difficult because the inclination is not very large
It can be done quite easily.
The road is beautiful.
If I had known this path before, of course I would have done it much earlier.
It is spectacular and in one day only. In a few hours we will be in Machu Picchu, it is very exciting.
We are about to reach Wiñay Wayna which means ´´ Forever young´´.
We cross this beautiful jungle path.
There is a waterfall too.
It is amazing to hear the sound of nature.
Let's go! I'm a little tired no more. There are a lot of ups and downs
We will soon see the terraces we saw from afar but now we will pass by.
We were there
We are about to reach Machu Picchu. How do you feel?
Very excited but the road left me amazed.
Each landscape is spectacular.
Worth a thousand.
I advise everyone to go this way.
Full day: in one day you will walk trough the Inca trail and arrive at Machu Picchu in the afternoon.
The door of the sun is only there.
It is so close after four hours walking.
I no longer feel my legs.
We are so close so come on!
We will have the view of the city of Machu Picchu.
We are on the other side. Normally, we get there.
Incredible view. What a reward after four hours of walking!
Wow, it's the whole road by which we climb the mountain with the buses.
It was worth the effort!
We arrived! I'm so happy!
The best way to get to Machu Picchu is by this route.
When we arrive at three in the afternoon here, there is no one. We have the Machu Picchu for ourselves.
Also, arriving in the afternoon, look. Everything is clear.
There are many more chances to see Machu Picchu like this if you arrive in the afternoon.
Because in the morning, many times, it's all cloudy.
So, I advise you if it is rainy season to go in the afternoon.
I want to say thank you very much to René Porcell of Porcell Tours for this incredible adventure.
Very patient with us stopping every time to record, to contemplate.
Everything was perfect.
I still have energy so we are going to do another walk out there.
Then, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo.
After a week, I can't pronounce it yet.
These are the stairs where the first people who discovered Machu Picchu came from.
From the river to here. Now, they can no longer be used because it would be too dangerous.
It is awesome to see that.
Look what we found.
The citadel of Machu Picchu was planned and built around 1450 during the Inca Pachacutec government.
The work demanded the participation of specialists in architecture, engineering and astronomy.
In addition to a large amount of workers.
The Machu Picchu was abandoned during the second half of the 16th century.
In 1911, Professor Bingham visited him and was impressed with his beauty and majesty.
The following year, he returned with a team of professionals who conducted excavations and research in the area.
Since the 1930s, the Peruvian state has been promoting research, conservation and enhancement of the historic sanctuary.
Which represents a work in perfect harmony with nature and is the most important legacy from the Inca civilization to humanity.
Well, we have finished the tour. It was an exceptional experience.
We are waiting for our bus, we will go down to Aguas Calientes and then take our train to Ollantaytambo and return to Cusco.
I highly recommend this tour. All the information is in the description if you want to do the same.
