Hello all, thanks for clicking,

I am Niharika and in today's lesson we are gonna look at some expressions using the word

heart, Well the most important muscular organ , right? it's the heart, but people always

think that okay using the word heart is always related to love and romance , but not necessary

. So, when learning English there are many expressions with the word heart which are

not related to love and romance only. So, that's what we are gonna learn in today's

lesson, we are gonna look at these 06 expressions and learn how to use them. So, let's get started

the first one is ' In a heart beat' now to do something in a heart beat , it means to

do something very quick , like instantly. Now, if you have to use this in your conversation,

how would you do that? Well, by example - If I get a better pay, I will leave this job

in a heart beat. So, it means that If I get a better job and you know they pay me well,

then it's not gonna take time for me to quit this job, I am instantly gonna quit my job

and take the new one. So, I will leave the job in a heart beat, okay so instantly, very

quick. The next one "Heart of stone' now someone who has a heart of stone is a very cold person,

okay now here cold person doesn't mean someone who is feeling cold, okay. Cold person means

someone who is has no heart, like someone who is so mean, so rude doesn't have any sympathy,

can never ever empathize with anybody so that person has a heart of stone. So someone who

is very mean, no pity , no sympathy, cannot empathize with anybody, that person has a

heart of a stone like my neighbour, you know a dog dies in front of him, he would not even

care because he has a heart of a stone , he doesn't bother, he is a very cold person,

okay so that's how you can use this phrase. The third one "Pour one's heart out' have

you heard this before, well to pour one's heart out, it means to share or to express

your feelings, now not necessary that it has to be feelings with love and romance , it

can be anything maybe you are depressed and you know you share something with someone

that you trust, so it means you pour you heart out like I had a fight with a friend of mine

and I was extremely upset and very depressed so I shared my feelings with my Mom, so it

means I poured my heart out to her, because I was very depressed, So it means to share

your feelings. So any kind of feelings, your emotions, your feelings, your are upset, you

are angry , so when you share it with someone, you pour your heart out. The next one 'From

the bottom of one's heart' okay, now from the bottom of one's heart, it means you know

whatever you say from the bottom of your heart, it means you are just telling the truth, your

feelings, your emotions are so pure. So like I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart

or I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. So it means that whatever you

are saying is so pure and is the fact, it's the truth, so for example It's more like , you

can say it's more like an exaggerated statement like - From the bottom of my heart , I really

want to thank you. It's just too much , but yes it's okay to use it, maybe the other person

would be very impressed and would feel for you. So go ahead and use this, okay. The next

one 'Heart skips' or 'Misses a beat' now, when does your heart skips or misses a beat,

either it skips a beat or misses a beat , okay you can use any of the two words, now it happens

when you have this sudden fear or excitement , probably you have a crush on someone , maybe

you like a girl and you just saw her, so the moment you see her you get so nervous, you

feel those butterflies in your stomach and you feel that you know the nervousness so

your heart skips a beat , so the moment you see this girl your heart misses a beat or

skips a beat. So, it's a sudden fear or excitement, now if someone scares you, okay probably you

enter a dark room the moment you switch on the light of the room and you spot a cockroach

. Uhhh! you get scared , now that's fear and the moment you see the cockroach especially

girls who scream on top of their lungs, they are scared , so they miss their heart beat

alright. I just skipped my heart beat, okay or my heart just misses a beat, you could

use it either ways, so use it. And then the last one is young at heart, now we use this

expression for someone who is quite old maybe someone who is you can say 50 plus and still

behaves or acts pretty young and likes things that young people do , so for example - My

uncle , though he is 65 years old, but he is so young at heart because he does whatever

we do , he just behaves like any young guy. So he is very young at heart, so young at

heart is a perfect expression for someone who is old but behaves or likes to do things

that young people do. So these are the 6 expressions , they are very simple , you can use them

in your daily conversations but do use them , the more you practice you gonna be much

more better when you speak English, right? So go ahead use them hope it's useful to you

and I will be back with a new lesson, till then you take care, Good bye..
