Hello Ambient Folks, this is Perry Frank
Today I want to talk about Ambient Swells
Well, a lot of people have asked me
why I don't use a volume pedal to create ambient swells
today I'm going to show you why I don't need a volume pedal
before to start I ask you to subscribe the channel and click on the bell
this is the only way to get all the updates
and all the news of this channel
as you probably know I don't have a volume pedal in my pedalboard
because I don't need it
in fact I use the volume knob of the guitar
to create my ambient swells
ok Ambient People, I want to make an experiment with you
try to close your eyes
and just listen to the music I'm going to play
you have to tell me in which soundscape I'm using the volume pedal
and in which one I'm using the volume knob of the guitar
ok, let's start!
hey guys I see you are not closing your eyes
You don't fool me!
that's why I will close the video...
ok guys, did you hear any difference?
here are the two ambient soundscapes
Take a look!
as you can see there's no difference in the sound
that's the first reason I don't need a volume pedal in my pedalboard
this is my volume pedal
the second reason is that I can use two more effects
instead of the volume pedal
two more sound possibilities instead of this big pedal
well dear people
this guitar I'm playing has a big role to avoid using volume pedals
I can tell you that this movement I do with my hand on the volume knob
is a movement you can't do with all the other guitars
that's the reason I often use my stratocaster to play ambient music
ok folks now I'm gonna play an ambient song
making swells with the volume knob of the guitar
to show you why I don't need a volume pedal
this time I'm going to use three pedals
Old Blood Noise Dark Star
and Big Sky from Strymon
let's see what happens!
ok, Ambient People
the question is: do I really need a volume pedal?
the answer is: absolutely no!
ok guys, don't forget to subscribe the channel and click on the bell!
See you in the next clip!
