How to switch from fluorescent tubes to LED tubes?

In this video we will explain how you can easily replace your fluorescent tubes by LED tubes

to benefit from great energy savings. What are the benefits of switching to LED tubes?

LED tubes are highly energy efficient as they

consume about 50% less energy than fluorescent tubes for the same light output.

By switching to LEDs, you can significantly reduce your energy bills!

They also have a very long lifespan, which averages from 30,000 to 50,000 hours,

which is 2 to 3 times longer than standard fluorescent tubes.

LED tubes are also a eco conscious alternative to fluorescent solutions, as they don't contain any mercury.

Thanks to their shatterproof plastic envelope, they are very safe.

Which kinds of tubes can be replaced by LED tubes?

At the moment, LED tubes are only available as a replacement for T8 tubes with a G13 socket.

How to choose the right LED tube? The only way to find the correct replacement

of a fluorescent tube by a LED tube is to look at the length of the tube you are using now

and choose a LED tube of the same dimensions. There are only 4 lengths available: 60cm, 90cm, 120cm and 150cm.

You can then choose the color temperature

of the LED tube just as you would for fluorescent tubes:

830 is a warm white light used in hotels or shops

840 is a cold white light used in offices or supermarkets

865 is a very cold daylight used in warehouses, cold rooms or industrial environments.

Do I need to change my installation to use LED tubes?

If you have a conventional ballast (also called electromagnetic ballast), just remove the starter

from your fixture and replace it with a LED starter. The LED starter is included

with LED tubes with the letter C at the end of their name. If there is the letter I, it

means the starter is not included and you need to order it separately.

If you have an electronic ballast, you don't need a starter but you will need to re-wire

and bypass the ballast. To avoid this procedure, we advise you to choose the range

Philips Master LEDtube Value InstantFit, specifically designed to work with electronic ballasts with no need to re-wire.

With LEDtube InstantFit, simply replace your old tube by the LEDtube without changing anything else!
