Difficulty: 0

hey go natural English thank you for

watching today we're going to talk about

how to deal with

as part of a presentation when you're

giving your presentation in the

beginning you usually start with an

introduction and at that time you can

tell your audience if you would prefer

that they wait until the end of your

presentation to ask questions otherwise

if you have a really active audience

they might ask questions in the middle

of your presentation and that's good you

want your audience to be alive alive the

audience means they're paying attention

if you have an audience who is totally

dead silence then they might not be

paying attention okay so if you get a

question in the middle of your

presentation you can deal with it in

several ways but let's say you want to

defer the question until later so to

defer first acknowledge that you

understand the question and that it's

valuable to you it's important you want

to make your audience members feel like

you're interested in their ideas or

their comments so start with some

comment like oh that's a great question

or that's interesting

great question

that's interesting and try to sound like

you mean it

okay seconds you need to defer so

acknowledge the question and then defer

by saying but or however or

unfortunately because limited time you

can add this excuse if you want so great

question but or that's interesting

however or

wonderful question unfortunately or

thank you for asking but because of

limited time and then you need to

redirect the further question

let's talk about that later let's talk

about that later or let's talk about

that at the end of the presentation or

you could say I'll answer that at the

end I'll answer that at the end or I'll

answer that later in the presentation so

now you have a three-step formula for

deferring or redirecting questions so to

defer the question until later first of

all acknowledge and praise the question

we love praise great question

step two you need to you you have to let

the person down which means you have to

deny the question but that's a great

question but because of limited time

let's talk about that later okay so

three steps to defer a question during

your presentation I hope this was

helpful and check back for more
