For the "Cooking Nerd" series today we'll make
something really tasty related to Deadpool!
To celebrate the release of his movie in theaters
we'll make his renowed
If you want to try out this delicacy...
...here's the recipe! :D
Today's ingredients are:
500g of ground beef,
1 can of crashed tomatoes,
2 teaspoons of tomato paste,
2 teaspoons of chili powder,
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds,
2 grated leeks,
1 crushed clove of garlic,
a pinch of salt,
200g of Monterey Jack,
or Cheddar or Asiago cheese,
tortillas or flour wraps,
oil for frying,
Start by searing the ground beef
with 2 teaspoons of olive oil on a pan.
Then add onion and garlic.
Once all the meat becomes brown,
add crushed tomatoes,
cumin seeds, chili powder,
and the tomato paste,
which will give it a bit more flavor and color,
then add salt.
If you want, you can add a bit more salt
toward the end of the cooking.
Now cover the pan with a lid
and let it cook for 15 minutes,
then remove the lid
and let it cook for another 15 minutes
to let the liquid reduce.
Once the meat mix is ready
let it cool at room temperature.
Warm up the wraps or the tortillas
on a pan, for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute per side,
to make them softer and easier to wrap.
Put some of the mix we made
in the middle of the wrap, add the cheese,
and roll them pushing the filling
towards the center with your fingers.
Fold the ends to keep the filling from spilling out
and finish rolling the chimichanga.
Then seal it with a toothpick.
Fry one or more chimichangas at a time
until both sides are golden brown.
Once ready, put them on a plate
with paper towels,
to absorb the excess oil.
If you want you can garnish the chimichangas
with mexican salsa and sour cream,
but they're already super good!
