The Full Form of IBBF is Indian Body Building Federation.

Truly a Federation of the Body Builders, by the Body Builders and for the Body Builders. The IBBF was formed to propagate and popularize the sport of Body building in India. The IBBF is recognized as the only National Sports Federation for the sport of Body building in India by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and is also recognized by the Sports Authority or India (SAI) and the National Anti-doping Agency (NADA).

The IBBF today has 45 State Associations/ Union Territories and Government Sports Control Boards affiliated to it and is the only sport Federation to which the Government Sports Control Boards like the Indian Railways Sports Promotion Board, Central Civil Services, Cultural and Sports Board, Ordnance Factory Sports Promotion Board, Major Port Sports Control Board and Services Sports Control Board, All India Police Sport Control Board and Central Civil Services and Cultural Sport Board are affiliated. There are more than 5000 athletes (Men and Women) registered with the IBBF. All the above said Sports Control Board have extended facilities like recruitment, promotional incentives in Government Bodies and eligibility for National Sports Awards for the Athletes participating in the competitions organized, arranged and managed by Indian Body Builders Federation.

The Executive Committee of IBBF boasts of many illustrious and prominent personalities in the field of Body building. To name a few, Shri Madhukarji Talwalkar, the doyen of fitness Industry in India is the Executive Vice President of the IBBF, Shri Premnchand Degra , Mr Universe (Padamshree and Arjuna Awardee) along with Shri T.V. Pauly (Arjuna Awardee)and Shri Chetan Pathare is the young and dynamic Secretary General of IBBF and also the Secretary General of World Body Building and Physique Sport Federation are in the Executive Committee of the IBBF.

The IBBF is keen on conducting activities and seminars on varied topics like Anti Doping seminars, goal setting, stress management and the likes for the benefit of athletes and even officials. The Judges clinic for the continuous up-gradation of knowledge of officials in the field of Judges is a regular feature in the yearly calendar of IBBF. With the advent of Physiques sports categories at International level, the reach of IBBF from hardcore body builders to general public has increased tremendously.
