The Full Form of MHCET is Maharashtra Common Entrance Test.
MHT CET (MH CET) or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai for admissions to first-year Engineering and Technology programmes (BE/BTech) and Pharmacy programmes (BPharma/PharmaD) in the state. Till 2018, the exam used to be conducted by DTE, Maharashtra.
In 2013, the exam was scrapped and the admission to undergraduate engineering programmes (BE/BTech) was done on the basis of JEE Main. However, from 2016 onwards, the exam was started again after which the government assigned 50% weightage to Class 12 marks and 50% to CET scores, instead. From 2018, MHT CET was mandatory for admissions in the state.
Candidates will be allotted seats in the different colleges of Maharashtra on the basis of candidates’ results in MHT CET 2020. It is one of the largest exams in terms of test-takers in India as around three lakh applicants appear in MHT CET every year. MHT CET is considered a relatively tough exam to attempt and there is usually a huge buzz among aspirants on how to prepare for it.
