The full form of WBUT is West Bengal University of Technology.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT,WB), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), is a public state university located beside National Highway at Haringhata, Nadia, West Bengal, India. Founded in 2001 and funded initially by the Government of West Bengal, MAKAUT, WB provide degrees in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy and other professional areas through affiliated institutions and in-house departments. In 2019, new certification and diploma courses on Archaeology were launched.

All the departments enjoy full academic autonomy, and provide overall guidance in nurturing our ideas of development and help intergrate disciplines to provide new focus. The SET offers B.Tech. in CSE and IT as well as M.Tech. in Software Engineering, M.E. in Computer Science & Engineering, M.E. in Information Technology, M.Tech. in Microelectronics and M.Tech. in Industrial Engineering & Management. The SBTBS offers M.Tech in Biotechnology (supported financially by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India), M.Tech. in Bioinformatics, Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Bioinformatics and Ph.D. programs in emerging areas. The University also offers an Integrated Ph.D. program in Physical Science and Chemical Science in collaboration with S. N. Bose Centre for Basic Sciences. The SOMS offers M.Phil in Management, Material Science and Glycobiology. SOMS has also initiated professional training courses in other countries for foreign students

Previously, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) is known by the name of West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) is a public state University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the objective to provide high class education in various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the university. There are approx 209 colleges and institutions under this university.
