DNA and RNA are important things inside our bodies. They help make living things like plants, animals, and people. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid, and RNA stands for Ribonucleic Acid. Scientists learned about DNA first in 1869. Later, in the 1940s, they began to understand RNA’s role.
DNA holds the plan to make all parts of our body. It stays inside the cells to keep the plan safe. RNA helps to copy this plan and make new parts.
Think of DNA as the “big book” that stores all the plans. RNA is like a “messenger” that takes parts of the plan to the workers in the cell.
In simple terms, DNA is the big plan that stays safe, and RNA is the helper that carries the plan to where it’s needed in the cell. Remember: DNA is the book, and RNA is the messenger.
