The Full Form of CIWGC is Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries.
CIWG means Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. CIWG is a category under DASA scheme, started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for the children of Indian expatriates (NRIs/OCIs/PIOs) in Gulf countries who want to study in top engineering colleges like NITs and IIITs.
There are two key benefits for CIWG in the DASA scheme : 1) Reserved seats for CIWG candidates in all colleges, 2) Have to pay the same college fee as students in India.
5% supernumerary seats (within 15% of supernumerary quota of DASA) are reserved for CIWG category, i.e., 1/3rd seats from DASA quota is reserved for CIWG. List of CIWG, non-CIWG and Total seats in various Institutes : CIWG Quota Seats
NRI candidates who are eligible for CIWG Category will have the option to be considered for other seats of DASA as well. In order to avail this option candidates have to deposit the same initial fee as applicable to DASA (Non-SAARC) category candidates. In case, final admission is given to you in CIWG Category, the balance amount of fee will be refunded.
