The full form of MCWOG is Motor Cycle Without Gear. It’s used on Governmental ,Documents & Certificates in India
Motor Cycle Without Gear (MCWOG) is a licence issued for driving motorcycles without a gear. This type of license is for driving gearless vehicles like scooters.
In order to clear the confusion between category of vehicles i.e. MCWOG (without gear) and MCWG (with gear), Honda Activa or for that matter any other scooter of this category like Suzuki Access, Maestro will come under the category of MCWG, only because according to RTO, any vehicle over 50cc is a MCWG which will comprise of any bike, scooter, non geared vehicle.
A person holding MCWG is licensed to drive any vehicle of this category (bike) or scooters (Activa, Access, Jupiter etc).
Vehicles below 50cc are almost non-existent nowadays like Moped, Kinetic Luna etc. Only these vehicles fall under the category of MCWOG.
This is my personal experience as i have made this mistake and had to change the category of vehicle since it is not acceptable at the time of permanent license.
Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India doesn’t provide relevant information at the time of online application and thus, it becomes a common mistake at times.
