PARTA is committed to providing safe, dependable, courteous, and affordable transportation services that help Portage County residents meet their travel needs.
To accomplish this mission, PARTA’s vision is to be the provider of a multimodal alternative transportation network that sustains the region’s economic vitality and air quality, provides mobility and accessibility to all constituencies of the population, and preserves and enhances the region’s quality of life. PARTA works to achieve the following goals in carrying out its mission and vision:
Provide visible and attractive alternatives to the use of the single occupant vehicle.
Optimize the efficiency of all department operations to maximize efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
Pursue an aggressive market development and education program to enhance public awareness of the availability and benefits of alternative transportation.
Implement policies and develop facilities that support economic development, enhance neighborhood preservation, and encourage use of transit.
PARTA currently operates 15 fixed routes that service Akron, Brimfield, Cleveland, Franklin Township, Garrettsville, Hiram, Kent, Ravenna, Ravenna Twp., Rootstown, Stow, Streetsboro and Windham. Last year alone, PARTA provided approximately 1.5 million trips to seniors, individuals with disabilities, students, and workers across Portage County. Routes run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
