The Full Form of PGDCM is‍ Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management.

Seven years after Indian Institute of Management- Calcutta introduced the PGPEX-VLM course; a new full time, residential program is underway. The institute is planning to start a post graduate program in business analytics. The existing Post Graduate Program in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM) will be merged with the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and 50 seats allotted for the PGDCM course will be converted to PGDM seats.

“We are not exactly doing away with the PGDCM program. There are two programs under PGP — PGDCM and PGDM. Students were admitted to the two year PGDCM program on the basis of the Common Admission Test (CAT) which will also be the requirement for entry into the PGDM course. But the study of computer aided management, begun 22 years back for the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in management is no longer relevant. While the use of ICT was a special thing almost two decades ago, use of the same mechanism in education should not be construed as something very special in today’s world. Hence the shift,” said Saibal Chattopadhyay, IIMC director.
