What is the meaning of [Don’t put all your eggs in one basket]

‘Spread the risk’ is the lesson this proverb teaches. Accidents will happen,
so use two baskets and thereby reduce the chance of losing all your eggs in
one go. Similarly, don’t keep all your money in one pocket; distribute it
about your person. Than if a pick-pocket deprives you of your notecase on a
crowded train, he does not rub your of all your have. Again, when investing
your capital, do not venture the whole amount in a single speculation, but
spread it over several. If one fails, you will still have the money safely
invested in the others.
