What is the meaning of [Even Homer sometimes nods]

Even the best of use are liable to make mistakes.

Homer was the greatest of Greek poets. Horace, the Roman poet, wrote to
Homer’s occasional poetic lapses: ‘I, too am indignant when the worthy Homer
nods, but in a long work it is allowable to snatch a little sleep.’

Here is an example of modern usage:

> ‘I’ve done the trip twenty times or more. I knew every inch of the road.
You’d hardly believe it, but today I took a wrong turning and lost myself.’

> ‘Those things do happen. Even Homer sometimes nods.’
