What does ‘Backseat Driver’ mean?

Definition: A passenger in the car that gives the driver unwanted advice

Explanation: This common phrase became popular in the 1920’s when many Americans gained wealth and were able to afford a private chauffeur. The passengers would tell the driver directions to wherever they wanted to go.
