Backseat Driver

Example:  “Hey, take a left on this next turn. It’s faster.” “I don’t need you to be a Backseat Driver.”

Definition: A passenger in the car that gives the driver unwanted advice

Explanation: This common phrase became popular in the 1920’s when many Americans gained wealth and were able to afford a private chauffeur. The passengers would tell the driver directions to wherever they wanted to go.
