You’re a star! — “你是大明星”? 聊一聊关于star的用法
you are a star! 不是“你是一个大明星”
最近帮了一个外国朋友的忙，他对我说：“you are a star!”
What？
这是在夸我像明星吗？ 帮一个忙不至于吧？
咳咳…虽然这句话也是在夸人
但往明星上想就有点过了……
剑桥英语词典里对“You’re a star”是这样解释的：
所以当老外对你说：You’re a star.
其实是在夸你：你真是个大好人。 =It’s very nice of you.
相当于我们常说的： 你真是我的大救星。
I really appreciate what you did for me. You’re a star!
我真的很感激你为我所做的一切。你真是个大好人!
需要注意的是：
如果你真是明星名人
“You’re star.”也可以是“你是大明星。”
这里的star=明星。
see stars 不是“看星星”
“I could see stars.”
千万不要理解成“他可以看到星星”
很有可能是他生病了，不舒服
see stars=眼冒金星
如果你想看天上的星星
可以说look at the stars
或者watch stars
如果是类似赏月的话
还可以说appreciate the stars
可不要用see stars
免得引起误解
The blow on his head made Jack see stars.
Jack当头挨了一击，眼睛直冒金星。
跟“明星”相关的star
①guest star
guest star的意思是“特约演员明星，客串”
这里的star可以是动词
意思就是“appear in a guest role”

②new star／rising star
star的主要意思是“星星，明星”
new star就可以表示“新发现的星球；新秀，新星”

是不是理解为“你的眼里有星星”
这个短语的意思是：“因激动，兴奋，充满希望”。
此外，它还有“成名、明星梦”的含义

④reach for the stars
按照字面意思是到达星际、摘星
引申为“有九天揽月之志
努力完成壮举”的意思
例：
