Color and colour are words that mean the same thing. They talk about red, blue, and other shades we see. But why are there two ways to spell this word?
Color is used in American English. Colour is used in British English. Long ago, English people used “colour.” But when people moved to America, they changed the spelling to “color.”
If you are in the United States, you should use “color.” If you are in the United Kingdom or other countries like Canada, you should use “colour.”
Think “America has fewer letters, so it uses color.” “UK likes adding extra letters, so it uses colour.”
Color is for American English. Colour is for British English. Both words mean the same thing, like red, blue, and yellow.
