The Full Form of CEAIE is China Education Association for International Exchange
The Chinese Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE)was founded in July 1981. It is a nationwide, non-governmental organization for overseas educational exchange. As an NGO, CEAIE registers with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations.
CEAIE emphasizes basic ( K-12), vocational/technical, adult, ethnic, special education, local higher education (at the provincial level ), and establishes extensive working relations. CEAIE plays a role in coordinating its work with 27 provincial-level education associations for international exchange and 7 municipal level affiliates and 74 member institutions. The CEAIE alone has established cooperative relations with more than one hundred similar non-government organizations in 23 countries and regions.
CEAIE has a full commitment to meeting the needs of China’s modernization construction, developing exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese educational community and other parts of the world, promoting the advancement of education, culture, science and technology, and strengthening understanding and friendship among the peoples of all countries and regions of the world.
The activities CEAIE carries out are to support major People-to-People dialogue and exchange mechanisms between China and US, China and Russia, China and UK and China EU respectively, provides quality assurance service on China-Foreign cooperative programs to CEAIE members and holds the China Annual Conference for International Education and the International Education Expo.
CEAIE has provincial associations for international exchanges in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as well as local chapters in 16 major cities. Its members include institutions from entire education sector in China.
CEAIE has established a wide network with partner associations and institutions at home and long-term working relationship with over 170 educational organizations in more than 50 countries and regions.
CEAIE has been granted the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and established the official relations with UNESCO.
Since its establishment, CEAIE has contributed to the development of China’s international education. In 2014, it was awarded 5A China Social Organization, the highest grade of such, based on the result of evaluation conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Major Areas of Work:
(1)promotion of linkages between Chinese educational institutions with their counterparts abroad;
(2)conducting courses or refresh courses in language studies, vocational/technical education and adult education programs, etc.;
(3)sponsoring international conferences and seminars on education;
(4)undertaking projects entrusted by the Chinese government;
(5)Arranging employment of foreign teachers and specialists to teach in China;
(6)Receiving groups of international educators and students on study tours;
(7)Compiling and publishing books and reference materials relating to educational exchange;
(8)Assisting local CEAIE associations and member institutions to promote educational exchange with counterparts overseas.
