Khyber Girls Medical College is the first public sector medical college for girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which came into existence in May 2004 as a female Campus of KMC Peshawar. It was declared as an independent college in December 2005, and is recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council in December 2008.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the Medical Education is a need of the hour due to obvious social reasons, as there is great reluctance on the part of society to get the medical help for their women folk from the male doctors. Moreover, those people who can afford are a bit hesitant to send their daughters and sisters to the medical colleges with co-education. In the light of this the Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC) will fulfill all the above social and legal requirements. Such facility already existed in Punjab with the name of Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore and in Sindh People University of Medical Health Sciences for Women Nawabshah where only female students are admitted. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after lengthy deliberations took a policy decision and in August 2003, the Provincial Cabinet of the Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) took the first step in this regard by establishing of a separate Girls Campus affiliated with Khyber Medical College Peshawar (KMC) in the premises of PDA Building, Block-IV, Phase-V, Hayatabad. For this purpose, the present-day building housing the KGMC was purchased from the Govt. exchequer from PDA at a cost of Rs. 120 Million at that time.

Kanyakumari Govt. Medical College is located in Asaripallam,Nagercoil which was earlier known as Govt. T.B Hospital. Government Medical College was started in the year of 2004 to accommodate 100 MBBS Under graduate students (Both State and All India Quota). Since the year 2016, Post graduate courses were also started. The college is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. The college and the hospital are funded and managed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

King’s George Medical University (KGMU) is one of the renowned Medical Institutes in Northern India. The university is located in the heart city of the Uttar Pradesh state – Lucknow. The university was established in the year 1911 and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) & Medical Council of India (MCI). Prof DK Gupta is the current principal of the university.

In 1870 the Maharaja of Vijanagaram first floated the idea of starting a Medical College in Lucknow. But the idea was watered down due to paucity of funds. In 1905 the visit of King-Emperor, George V, then Prince of Wales, inspired the idea of establishing a college to commemorate the occasion. The originator of this fine ideal to commemorate the occasion was late Raja Sir Tassadnq Rasul Khan of Jehangirabad to whom Sir Harcourt Butler wrote on 1st December 1905. “It must ever be a source of pride to you to think that the first suggestion of such a movement came from you absolutely spontaneously.”

On 22nd March 1906, the Secretary to Govt. U.P. wrote to the Registrar, Allahabad University “It is the desire of subscribers to the Foundation of King George’s Medical College that this College should be the best in the East and it will be aim of Government that the College shall give to its students the best education possible.” The project was warmly taken up by all and the Taluqdars and Zamindars of Agra and Oudh gave princely donations. Sir Harcourt Butler himself was largely responsible for rapid maturation of the scheme by the energy in collecting subscriptions and by his talents in organisation.
