The Full Form of OEN is‍ Old English Newsletter.

Since 1967, OEN has been a source for news, announcements, and information about the study of the culture and history of England between the years 550 to 1066. Its annual Bibliography and Year’s Work in Old English Studies are used by thousands of scholars worldwide.

The Old English Newsletter is a peer-reviewed academic journal established in 1967. It covers Anglo-Saxon studies and is published by the University of Massachusetts for the Old English Division of the Modern Language Association of America.

The journal publishes an annual Bibliography and Year’s Work, which are widely relied upon.^[1] Many issues include obituaries of relevant scholars.

The online version contains an archive of several years of the journal’s publications.

The Old English Newsletter has been a source for news, announcements, and information on the world of Anglo-Saxon studies since 1967. Its annual “Bibliography and Year’s Work in Old English Studies” are used by thousands of scholars worldwide. The Old English Newsletter Subsidia series publishes brief studies, editions, bibliographies, and other volumes for scholarly and classroom use.

Medieval Institute Publications at Western Michigan University has published volumes 34 to 36 of the Subsidia volumes. Volume 36 the Subsidia series is the last in this series.

 As of Volume 47, OEN will be completely open-access and free. We will no longer print and mail issues. PDFs can be downloaded free of charge. Readers are welcome to print issues for personal and academic use.
