Railway working period is divided in three period of 10/11 days of month; for the purpose of statistical analysis. For every period analysis of work performed is done – listed and tabulated and officer reports it to next higher through a demi official letter. Such letters are termed as PCDO. Periodical Demi Official Letter.
Such letters are exchanged between area to division to zone and to railway board.
With passage of time PCDO has given way to MCDO – monthly demi official letter. Some offices have done away with this practice (rare) and some have made in paperless. But in general, MCDO is in vogue.
