Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) or Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV), is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer protocol (HTTP) that allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on a remote web server.
WebDAV supports the following features:
Editing: The ability to create, update, and delete files.
Properties: The ability to store metadata such as titles, author names, and publication dates.
Collections: The ability to group resources into collections and to retrieve a hierarchical membership listing (like a directory listing in a file system).
Locking: The ability to keep more than one person from working on a document at the same time.
