Lucknow is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh in India. According to one legend, the city is named after Lakshmana, the younger brother of Lord Rama. The place was also called Lakshmanpur, popularly known as Lakhanpur or Lachmanpur. Over time, the name changed to Lucknow, the anglicized pronunciation of “Lakhnau”
