The Full Form of DMWO is District Minority Welfare Officer.
Minority Welfare Department was established in 1991 to provide financial, social and academic development of minority communities like Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist and Parsi communities for their all-round development. Since its inception, the department has been working for the upliftment of minority communities along with linguistic minorities. Currently there is a Directorate and a corporation under departmental establishment. District minority welfare officer is established in all the districts under Regional Settlement and the establishment of Block Minority Welfare Officer in minority concentrated blocks is under process. The department through its welfare schemes, determined to bring the minority community in the mainstream of society and their cooperation in nation building.
The Vision of the Minority Department are as follows:, Introduce schemes to promote accelerated socio economic development of minorities, Introduce educational concessions for students of minority communities, Implement schemes for development of women and children of minority communities, Provide training and employment opportunities, thereby tackling the problem economic backwardness among minoritie, Provide guidance to those in the minority communities wanting to set up entrepreneurial ventures
